Skyline

New York again tonight. The Skyline Hotel. Likely a painful trip ahead here, especially with all of my job decisioning. Still, worth it if only for my arrival at the Skyline Hotel here at 725 10th Avenue at 50th. Old, squat, Russian concierge, reading spectacles pushed up on his forehead greets me with a thick, cartoonish "Roosshenn" accent. He fiddles with my account information and my key. I look around the lobby. There's a bellboy, tall and lanky, perched at a belldesk, passing the time. He's writing something...looks like important bellboy notes as you walk into the lobby. I look again...he's actually drawing. Tucked in his folder is a little drawing of Snake Eyes from GI Joe. It's poorly rendered, but something goofy and hopeful about the drawing and this bellboy in the uniform. Maybe he's the other guy's son. Still, quite the tableau.

Looking for a Home...via Chicago

We've been back in Chicago now for a little over a year, if you can believe it. Mr. Hans provided a ticket to catch Wilco at Millennium Park last night (thanks to Callie turning up sick at the last minute -- feel better Cal) and though I only caught the first hour of the show, it was a nice "Welcome Home." That band. That place. This city. We're home.
